Yielded as a byproduct from our biofuel production, PowerWood’s industrial grade furfural can be converted into several derivative bio-based chemicals.

Refined into methylfuran, methyltetrahydrofuran, ethylfurfuryl and ethyltetrahydrofurfuryl ethers, it is used to make aviation jet fuel. 

It can be hydrogenated to produce polycaprolactam and hexamethylenediamine as precursors for durable Nylon used in clothing, carpets, upholstery, cable insulations, seals and circuit breakers.

As furfuryl alcohol, it is a staple constituent of heat-resistant resins, reinforced plastics and imperishable wood products, all increasingly demanded by the automotive sector.
